Priyanka Gandhi, daughter of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, is all set to have an abode in the 'Queen of Hills' with the Himachal Pradesh government granting her permission to purchase land near Charabbra on the outskirts of Shimla
The Revenue Department has given Priyanka permission to acquire land by giving relaxation in Section 118 of the Land Reforms and Tenancy Act, which bars non-agriculturists from buying agricultural land in the state, official sources said.
The Revenue Department after perusing her application for purchase of land has given her a go-ahead, the sources added.
The site selected by Priyanka is the land of a well-known businessman of Shimla near Retreat, where Rashtrapati Niwas is located on the valley side below the Kalyani helipad, about 11 km from the town.

Priyanka has given power of attorney to a senior Congress leader of Shimla district, Kehar Singh Khacchi, for purchase of the land, said to be some four-and-a-half bighas.
"The process for registry of land has started and hope it will be completed today itself," Khachhi said. He said the work for construction of a house at the land would begin soon.
Going down the memory lane, Khacchi said late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had great liking for Shimla. During her stay in Rashtrapati Niwas in Retreat, she always used to express desire to have a house in the nearby area, he said.
"It is good that Indiraji's granddaughter is fulfilling her wishes by deciding to have an abode in the hill state," he said.
